Famous Recalls of Some of the Most Dangerous Products of All Time

“Just dial 3s” 333-3333. It’s a local number.

When we purchase a new product, we expect it to be safe. At the Becker Law Office, we know that is not always the case. Before the Consumer Product Safety Commission began to crack down on dangerous products and reckless manufacturers, there were some scary and outright dangerous products out there. Let’s look at some of the most common and historically dangerous product recalls of all time.

Easy Bake Oven – a great way to learn to cook and a great way to learn that ovens get hot.

Touted as being able to teach young children early baking skills and concepts, Hasbro had to recall almost 1 million Easy Bake Ovens after repeated reports of children getting their hands or fingers stuck in the oven – often resulting in burns.

Toyota’s Infamous Gas Pedal Problems – for those who want to go from point A to point B without stopping.

One of the best-known recalls of all time was Toyota’s sticky gas pedal issue in 2009-2010, resulting in over a whopping 9.4 million cars being recalled for an ill-fitting floor mat and faulty gas pedals. Many of these product failures resulted in catastrophic personal injuries.

Bridgestone/Firestone Tires – a recall ready to pop.

After numerous fatalities and personal injuries caused by these faulty tires, which had a habit of splitting open, separating, and causing vehicles to roll over, more than 6.5 million tires were immediately recalled. In recent times, this was one of the worst product failures in terms of loss of human life and limb.

There are many other dangerous product failures, including Tylenol, baby swings, peanut butter, cribs, high chairs, beanbags, airbags, and other products that could cause or do cause personal injuries.
